Our Brief Statement of Faith (Wikipedia)
In life and in death we belong to God.
Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit,
we trust in the one triune God, the Holy One of Israel,
whom alone we worship and serve.
We trust in Jesus Christ,
Fully human, fully God.
Jesus proclaimed the reign of God:
preaching good news to the poor
and release to the captives,
teaching by word and deed
and blessing the children,
healing the sick
and binding up the brokenhearted,
eating with outcasts,
forgiving sinners,
and calling all to repent and believe the gospel.
Unjustly condemned for blasphemy and sedition,
Jesus was crucified,
suffering the depths of human pain
and giving his life for the sins of the world.
God raised this Jesus from the dead,
vindicating his sinless life,
breaking the power of sin and evil,
delivering us from death to life eternal.
We trust in God,
whom Jesus called Abba, Father.
In sovereign love God created the world good
and makes everyone equally in God’s image
male and female, of every race and people,
to live as one community.
But we rebel against God; we hide from our Creator.
Ignoring God’s commandments,
we violate the image of God in others and ourselves,
accept lies as truth,
exploit neighbor and nature, and threaten death to the planet entrusted to our care.
We deserve God’s condemnation.
Yet God acts with justice and mercy to redeem creation.
In everlasting love,
the God of Abraham and Sarah chose a covenant people
to bless all families of the earth.
Hearing their cry,
God delivered the children of Israel
from the house of bondage.
Loving us still,
God makes us heirs with Christ of the covenant.
Like a mother who will not forsake her nursing child,
like a father who runs to welcome the prodigal home,
God is faithful still.
We trust in God the Holy Spirit,
everywhere the giver and renewer of life.
The Spirit justifies us by grace through faith,
sets us free to accept ourselves and to love God and neighbor,
and binds us together with all believers
in the one body of Christ, the Church.
The same Spirit who inspired the prophets and apostles
rules our faith and life in Christ through Scripture,
engages us through the Word proclaimed,
claims us in the waters of baptism,
feeds us with the bread of life and the cup of salvation,
and calls women and men to all ministries of the church.
In a broken and fearful world
the Spirit gives us courage
to pray without ceasing,
to witness among all peoples to Christ as Lord and Savior,
to unmask idolatries in Church and culture,
to hear the voices of peoples long silenced,
and to work with others for justice, freedom, and peace.
In gratitude to God, empowered by the Spirit,
we strive to serve Christ in our daily tasks
and to live holy and joyful lives,
even as we watch for God's new heaven and new earth,
praying, “Come, Lord Jesus!”
With believers in every time and place,
we rejoice that nothing in life or in death
can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

EMMI Is an Alternative Worship
Alternative worship can seem like a radical break with conventional church practices. We take our content from the Baptist Faith in general.
We have a flexible approach to theology whereby individual differences in belief and morality are accepted within reason. We define
ourselves by religious freedom and a certain ethical approach that is politically liberal. This view informs our common understanding of what
strives us on Sunday morning, the meanings of finding worth, binding together, and work of the people; are the substance of our Sunday
services. The preacher strives to bring an intellectual, personal and spiritual voice to our community’s Sunday service and needs to be
understood within the context of our living community. It is done with care and respect to find worth and what connects us..

Our Worship Sunday

All Sundays of the month we celebrate as a Baptist Church but on the last Sunday of the month we celebrate as a Metropolitan Community
Church. We have an Open Communion celebration at all our services.

We have rituals ceremonies and Celebrations for Weddings, Funerals & Memorials, Baby Naming's & Welcoming also Graces & Invocations.
In our worship services we use many gospel music.

Christianity from the Ancient Greek word Christos, a translation of the Hebrew meaning "the anointed one", together with the Latin
suffixes -ian and -itas) is an Abrahamic, monotheistic religion based on the life and oral teachings of Jesus of Nazareth as presented in
the New Testament. Christianity is the world's largest religion with nearly 2.4 billion adherents, known as Christians. Christians believe
that Jesus has
a "unique significance" in the world. Most Christians believe that Jesus is the Son of God, fully divine and fully human, and the saviour of
humanity whose coming was prophesied in the Old Testament. Consequently, Christians refer to Jesus as Christ or the Messiah.

The foundations of Christian theology are expressed in ecumenical creeds. These professions of faith state that Jesus suffered, died,
was buried, and was resurrected from the dead in order to grant eternal life to those who believe in him and trust in him for the remission
of their sins. The creeds further maintain that Jesus bodily ascended into heaven, where he reigns with God the Father. Most Christian
denominations teach that Jesus will return to judge everybody, living and dead, and to grant eternal life to his followers. He is considered
the model of a virtuous life. His ministry, crucifixion, and resurrection are often referred to as "the gospel", meaning "good news", a loan
translation of the Greek: euangélion. The term gospel also refers to written accounts of Jesus' life and teaching, four of which – the Gospels
of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John – are considered canonical and included in Christian Bibles.
Christianity is an Abrahamic religion that began as a Jewish sect in the mid-1st century. Originating in the Levant region of the Middle East,
it quickly spread to Syria, Mesopotamia, Asia Minor, and Egypt. It grew in size and influence over a few centuries, and by the end of the 4th
century had become the official state church of the Roman Empire, replacing other forms of religion practiced under Roman rule. During the
Middle Ages, most of the remainder of Europe was Christianized, and adherents were gained in the Middle East, North Africa, Ethiopia, and
parts of India. Following the Age of Discovery, Christianity spread to the Americas, Australasia, sub-Saharan Africa, and the rest of the world
through missionary work and colonization. Christianity has played a prominent role in the shaping of Western civilization.

Worldwide, the three largest groups of Christianity are the Catholic Church, the Eastern Orthodox Church, and the various denominations of
Protestantism. The Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox patriarchates split from one another in the schism of the 11th century, and
Protestantism came into existence during the Reformation of the 16th century, splitting from the Roman Catholic Church.

Jesus, Greek: Iesous; 7–2 BC to 30–33 AD, referred to as Jesus of Nazareth, is the central figure of Christianity, whom the teachings of
most Christian denominations hold to be the Son of God. Christianity regards Jesus as the awaited Messiah of the Old Testament and r
efers to him as Jesus Christ.

Christ, ancient Greek: Christós, meaning "anointed", is a translation of the Hebrew Messiah and it is used as a title for Jesus in the New
Testament. In common usage, "Christ" is generally treated as synonymous with Jesus of Nazareth. The followers of Jesus became known
as Christians (as in Acts 11:26) because they believed Jesus to be the Messiah (Christós) prophesied in the Hebrew Bible, for example in
the Confession of Peter.

Jesus came to be called "Jesus Christ", meaning "Jesus the Christós", the anointed; or "Jesus, the Messiah" by his followers after his death
and believed resurrection. Before, Jesus was usually referred to as "Jesus of Nazareth" or "Jesus son of Joseph". In the epistles of Paul the
Apostle, the earliest texts of the New Testament, Paul most often referred to Jesus as "Christ Jesus", or "Christ". Christ was originally a title,
yet later became part of the name "Jesus Christ", though it is still also used as a title, in the reciprocal use Christ Jesus, meaning
"The Messiah Jesus". Christians await the Second Coming of Christ, when they believe he will fulfill the rest of Messianic prophecy. The area
of Christian theology called Christology is primarily concerned with the nature and person of Jesus Christ as recorded in the canonical
gospels and the letters of the New Testament.


Oral gospel traditions, cultural information passed on from one generation to the next by word of mouth, were the first stage in the
formation of the written gospels. These oral traditions included different types of stories about Jesus. For example, there were anecdotes
about Jesus healing the sick and debating with his opponents. The traditions also included sayings attributed to Jesus, such as parables
and teachings on various subjects which along with other sayings, formed the Oral Gospel Tradition.

A
gospel is an account describing the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth. The most widely known examples are the four
canonical gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Christianity places a high value on the four canonical gospels, which it considers to
be a revelation from God and central to its belief system. Christianity traditionally teaches that the four canonical gospels are an accurate
and authoritative representation of the life of Jesus.

There are many ways of classifying the over 34,000 separate Christian groups in the world that consider themselves to be Christian from the
Amish to The Way.

Some believe that the Bible is a wide-ranging human document.
  • It was written by very human and fallible people who were not directly inspired by God.
  • The motivation of the authors was to promote the beliefs of their religious groups.
  • The first five books of the Bible were written by four unknown authors or groups of authors over a period of centuries and later  
    redacted (edited) by a fifth person or group.
  • The Bible records the authors' evolution in spiritual and religious belief over a period of about 1,000 years.
  • They incorporated a lot of material from nearby Pagan religions, like the book of Genesis' creation stories and Noah's flood, events   
    that never happened.
  • The Bible contains a great deal of folklore, religious propaganda, and myth. Stories of the great heroes of the ancient Hebrews (Adam,
    Abraham, Joseph, etc) are myths and involve    characters who never existed.
  • Some of its content is profoundly immoral by today's religious and secular criteria, and must be ignored.
  • The Bible calls for justice and decent treatment of all persons. These themes are vitally important today.

Five Beliefs I Continue to Hold About Jesus
:
  1. I don’t think the physical resuscitation of Jesus was a literal historical event. I suppose it’s possible, but my analysis of the evidence simply doesn’t support it, and there are many reasons from the
    text itself to understand that as a figurative, literary, or even mystical event.
  2. do not I think that Jesus was born of a literal virgin. That idea seems to have originated from a mistranslation of the word alma (young woman).
  3. I don’t believe the Bible is inerrant, infallible, or universally authoritative.  the Bible contains some great wisdom, and at certain times can strike at the heart of our situations quite perfectly.
  4. I don’t believe that Jesus was sent to die in order to atone to God (aka, himself in that line of thought) for the sins of Adam & Eve.
